Discussion topics
Some ideas for discussion topics for different levels of language learning:
If you are a beginner, easy topics for discussion are:
- who you are
- where you come from
- your family
- weather in your country
- your daily routines
- food/music/authors/sports teams you like…
If you are at an intermediate level of language learning you might want to discuss the following topics:
- recent films, plays and books - you can even have a book club on the net: read the same book and discuss it
- sports: games you watch, their results, players you like and why
- travelling, vacations
- plans and dreams
Remember to ask questions, not only talk about yourself!
And if you are an advanced learner, you can discuss:
- what is current in the media in your home country right now
- the language you are studying: things that puzzle you or you are not sure about; you can also correct each other’s texts
- cultural issues like customs, celebrations, living expenses, professional life
- politics, law, electoral system
This is a wonderful opportunity to practise your writing skills, get feedback and get to know everything you have always wanted to know or wondered about the target language country!
